Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player claimed his maiden title for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult season, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks his first trophy following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after spring of that year.

The win also means he has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to win a championship is particularly special," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, comprising in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive play style and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had caused some to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was concluded.

However the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an improved serving game.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the final five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional title, gained dominance to push for a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 initial chances in a close third set before the Russian broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
